A fascination with comic book heroes, animated cartoon figures, B-movie reels and vintage toys produced in Bev Hogue a deep connection with expressive imagination. These influences are alive in blue art creations such as "Gotham Kitty", a study of Batgirl in full Beluxe mode. 

25 years ago, Bev Hogue began creating portraits of fading film stars and other imaginary characters in a monochrome blue style that launched the highly collectible series Blue in the Face.  A signature work from the collection includes "Mary Tyler Mood," a  12 in. x 12 in. acrylic work on canvas that defined the dark humour of the series. Through the Exploring Blue section of Beluxe.com, the artist revisits some key pieces in an exploration of the shades of blue. 

It will be a hot one next weekend for Bev Hogue’s Winter Thaw sale. The annual show from Feb. 13 to Feb. 16 is an invitation to drop by the studio/gallery to celebrate 25 years of blue art creations.
